ELVES
Elf lore says that elves are not of this world, but came from the stars. The ancient elf manuscripts state that the elves arrived in some sort of magical ship from a star in the Archer's belt, and they were forced to blend into the primitive world they found. Elf tradition says the elves will return to their home in the stars, but only those of pure blood will be able to make the trip.
This is translated by many that Half-Elves, by definition, won't get into Elf Heaven. This restriction has made Half-Elves an interesting lot, with many of them sycophants to the Elvish Noble Houses in attempts to prove their worthiness, should the end days come. There are just as many Half-Elves that take to the life of wandering to soothe this slight, and are among the best rogues, pirates, smugglers, bards, and explorers.
Elves are aloof, and mostly stick to themselves. Although there is not a large population of elves in Praxis City, they are very influential due to the House of Silverthorne, headed by Lord Colonel Ian Silverthorne, Governor of the Town Watch. They have a walled estate, and welcome all -- all with proven elven descent.
Elves are considered the loosest element of the Contract of Gileon. Elves are ruled by a magocracy that spans the Seven Kingdoms, by an organization known as the Elven High Council. The High Council supports the defense of all Seven Kingdoms and colonies against outsiders, but rarely involves itself in the conflicts between the Seven Kingdoms. The High Council is made up of powerful mages, which command the Knights of Dalomer. The Knights are invariably elven rangers. The Knights of Dalomer all answer to the council, and have their own hand-and-signal code. Upon finishing their apprentice to an experienced Knight of Dalomere, they are usually outfitted with an elven cloak, elven boots, elven chainmail, and a Dalomerian blade (+1 sword that casts light upon command.)
Elves are extremely long-lived, and tend to be stoics, very unemotional, very logical in their approach. Due to their lack of passion, they are driven to reproduce several times in their lives, to avoid extinction. They are viewed as frivolous, but only by those who cannot understand the perspective of one who count their age by centuries instead of years. So, stuck-up, snobby, exclusive, and generally know-it-alls.. and of course, there are exceptions.
The Elves are among the best artists, scholars, and wizards, due to their long years of study.
