GNOMES

The few Gnomes in the colonies are largely of Cadessian extract, and speak Cadessi as their primary language. They are religious refugees from Cadessi, not accepting the doctrines of the One Faith, but following a secular Code of Nardo that furthers rationale explanation over celestial intervention. For this reason, they usually avoid clergy, especially of the Esani, who generally detest all heretics.

Although more closely related to Dwarves, Cadessi Gnomes feel more akin to Elves, respecting their advanced knowledge, although making the occasional fun of their refined tastes.

Gnomes usually do not take on last names, but claim lineage from their father's name. For example: Endor, son of Mull.

Gnomes are valued as bankers and master inventors, usually being quite skilled as mechanics. Many look upon the gnomes as a little too greedy, and accuse them of being willing to bend the rules, for the sake of furthering the art of acquisition. Gnomes can be mischievous of nature, and more than a few are rogues. A handful are wizards as well, taking to the arcane arts with great skill.

The Gnomes in Praxis City have built shops and manors around what has become known as Gnome Street, next to the Bay Market. They have painted their buildings bright colors, in keeping with their traditions, and have become a landmark of sorts in Praxis, a "rainbow row" that is copied elsewhere in the city as a uniquely Praxis design.

Although they have no Noble House to represent them, the majority of shop permits and sponsorship come from the House of Mudd.

Gnomes in Praxis include Burg, Fook, son of Mull, and Dirk, the former spectral partner of Captain Josh Savage..
