NEWS ARCHIVE

UPDATE ~ third of april two thousand & six
Chapters thirty-three to thirty-five have been added to the archives. Which puts us loosely in the summer of last year. We're catching up slowly but surely!
In other news just to let you know that there may be fewer updats this month as Joe is away on holiday and I've inadvertently committed myself temporarily to another project. Your normal viewing schedule should resume by the end of the month.
In the meantime, why not stop by the message boards and pester some of our writers with question, praise and critiques? Go on, you know you want to!

UPDATE ~ tenth of march two thousand & six
There has been an awful lot going on lately. A wealth of information has been added to the setting. I highly recommend that you take a look at the Praxis City Directory put together by our own wonderful Joe.
You can also now read the latest group newsletter and see which logs were selected for the January highlight. Enjoy!

NEWS ~ fifteenth of february two thousand & six
Well ladies and gentlemen, it seems there have been a few changes made around here of late. Firstly, you will have noticed most of the writers rambling on about t-shirts of late (yes, I mean you JR), which is all because we've now launched our very own Doom Lounge Shop over at cafepress.com. Go take a look and snag yourself a Doom Lounge top whilst you're there.
In other news, with Joe's excellent and increasingly talented help in the HTML department we've worked our way through over a year of stories. That's over twenty chapters people! You guys are by far too prolific. Anyway, you can now peruse those logs at your leisure over in the archives section. I've also uploaded some character biographies, yep, now everyone can enjoy the convoluted histories of your characters!
Lastly but in no way least, for me at any rate, I've made some changes to the overall layout and design of the site. Just little things to tweak it here and there. All in all though, I think they were necessary improvements. Let me know what you think if you spot any.

UPDATE~ the thirteenth day of August, two thousand and six; or the thirteenth day of Augur, Year of the Dragon 1723, a sweltering hot 'dog days' for our inhabitants of Praxis City.
Thanks to volunteer Amanda McGaha, we were finally able to present our scholarship winner with the award that Rho designed, as well as the actual money order with the scholarship proceeds. David is on the left, of course. And that's me, although you can't tell I'm wearing my Doom Lounge T-shirt by the way I turned. Foiled again!
WE NOW HAVE EVERY LOG WRITTEN ONLINE! At least until someone writes the next log, which we highly encourage. For the first time ever, everything written on the Doom Lounge is on the Doom Lounge website! I'm breaking out the bubbly for this one! (Or at least treating myself to some really good Chinese food to celebrate!)
In the featured log, the aftermath of "A Business Proposal" lead our interpid Praxians down the dangerous road to yet another wedding! Will there be zombies this time? Will the remaining single men retain their unmarried status, with the tide of weddings? Tune in to find out!

Work started on the gaming portion of the site. "The Chronicles of Grundy" will capture every gaming adventure taken place in Praxis and the surrounding area of Chicora
In the latest log, we see that Athena's dark handiwork has not gone unnoticed! Will Psyche and Mishka find her trail or be distracted by the sub-plots? Only time will tell!

UPDATE< ~ the twentieth day of August, two thousand and six; or the twentieth day of Augur, Year of the Dragon 1723, as the hot, hot 'dog days' dwindle down to a more comfortable Fall.

. . . . . . . . . .

Chapter Forty Six is now complete! With a vampire, ghosts, a Minotaur, an Undead Slayer, and the evil half-golem Croft, we end on a deceivingly light note; two star-crossed
lovers finally get together! For long time writers/readers, the characters of Psyche and Mishka have flirted with disaster since the early days of the Starship Gideon writing group,
and across a few writing simulations, including Kal-Dixas Spaceport, until they jumped worlds, so to speak, into Praxis. Now we get to the happily ever after part, right?
If you believe that, you haven't read the Doom Lounge for long! Isn't Psyche a monk?        With Chapter Forty Six closed, we open the doors to two fantastic logs by JR. On the shores of The River of Forgetfullness, we find our favorite mainstay of the Doom Lounge,
the infamous Edgar "Egg" Tully. Egg, you've been dead too long! And see what trouble Athena has gotten into without you!
My wish is that someone is having as much fun reading this as we are writing it!

UPDATE ~ the fourteenth day of September, two thousand and six; or the fourteenth day of Sapphire, Year of the Dragon 1723.

. . . . . . . . . .

UPDATE ~ the eighteenth day of September, two thousand and six; or the eighteenth day of Ogre, Year of the Dragon 1723.
In important personal news, Caroline Faith was born September 24th, 6 pounds, 11 ounces! She was born eyes wide open, arms
flailing, and voicing her opinion to the world. No, she's not sleeping at night yet, but, yes, we're doing great!
Has parenthood changed us? Well, of course. I find myself showing baby pictures to strangers on the street...which reminds me!
I need to post a picture on the website! :->
In Doom Lounge news, Chapter Forty Seven is complete and uploaded! Check out the False Face Society, and the continueing saga of
Athena Fikaris walk on the dark, dark side.
Coming up next: We get caught up with Fafnir and Jaik, and Athena discovers more about her presence state of business.
Also, Psyche and Mishka deal with their secret affair. What could possibly go wrong?

UPDATE ~ the twenty fifth day of October, two thousand and six; or the twenty fifth day of Ogre, Year of the Dragon 1723.
It's been a little slow! JR is working on a special project, and I'm learning the mystic arts of diaper changing and baby rocking.
Work is going well, so I anticipate getting things going strong again. Suzi is working as strong as ever to keep several good storylines going.
Currently, our storylines include Athena dealing with being pregnant and discovering the cause of her new vampiric tendancies. And didn't she
make a deal with the devil.. I mean, Croft?
Also, read along as Psyche Savage breaks her vows as a monk to pursue the relationship she always wanted -- what is the impact to her role
as an Undead Slayer? What if the community finds out? Keep watching as the Keeper of Secrets tries to keep her own secrets from surfacing!
And if that wasn't enough, what about Griffin and the mysterious snake-like Zitherous? And will Jaik ever find relief from his duties
as midwife escort? And who was the scarlet figure following Captain Savage around? And speaking of Captain Savage, what will he do without
the spectral Jeradin playing Watson to his Sherlock Holmes?
And finally, we are looking for reader feedback! For any of you readers who have comments (and we do accept positive reinforcement!),
please feel free to visit our discussion boards, or email me directly at joe_miley@hotmail.com!

UPDATE

~ the fifteeth day of November, two thousand and six; or the twenty fifth day of Newt, Year of the Dragon 1723.

Chapter 48 starts with Fafnir, Jaik & Lina, Mishka & Psyche, and Athena!

In the featured log, Jaik is finding mid-wife escort duty not to be the opportunity for romantic moments with his beloved Lina. Do you think Lina's mother set this up by design?

Also, we finally get an update on Mishka and Psyche.

I thought this post was a return to the tongue-in-cheek style we are familiar with. I had a better feeling posting the Grand Library,1, but it's still fun to keep Jaik in trouble.

Next up is "Grand Library, 2," coming soon as a Featured Log, I have no doubt!

Feel free to post comments! The plan ahead is to include a blog on this page so lurkers can more freely post constructive criticism, observations, and of course positive reinforcement is always welcomed!

And if anyone hasn't seen the baby pictures yet, check out Tracy's first attempt at web-paging at The Miley Family Homepage !
